Aaron started swimming for Metamora at the age of 4. He continued to swim for the Peoria YMCA Penguins and Richwoods High School. During his Junior year at RHS, the boys team was 3rd overall in the state of Illinois. Aaron was selected YMCA National Male swimmer of the Year in 1989. His favorite stroke is breaststroke.
Watching indiviuals improve, teaching discipline that can be applied throughout life, and sharing a life skill with others are some of the many reasons he choose to coach. |

Head Age Group Coach.
Brian began swimming for the Metamora swim team when he was 8 years old. He continued to swim throughout his life. He has coached YMCA National Swimmers, Age Groups State and Central Zone Champions. His favorite stroke is backstroke.
Brian enjoys working with the swimmers and helping them reach their personal swimming goals.

Team Manager and Coach.
Emily learned to swim at a very young age and has always enjoyed being in and around the water. She became an American Red Cross lifeguard in 1998. She coached with River City Aquatics, then came to the DOC Swim team in 2003. Her favorite stroke is freestyle.
Aaron and Emily have 3 girls and manage the DOC Swim Team. Emily also works at Pearce Community Center as a swim instructor. She enjoys watching swimmers improve and learn a skill they will use forever. In her free time, Emily enjoys photography, nature, and exploring with her children. |

Assistant Coach/Sprint Specialist - Manual HS practice site.
Jim started competitive swimming in 1971 with Wedgewood and Peoria YMCA. During his youth, he held many team records. While swimming for Richwoods HS he competed at State, placing 2nd in 50 and 100 yard freestyle. Jim was awarded All-State and All-American team certifications in both events, while also qualifying for YMCA Nationals
Jim earned a full swimming scholarship to Bradley, setting team records and serving as Varsity team co-captain. Jim is very enthusiastic about joining the DOCS coaching staff. He works for State Farm in Bloomington. |

Assistant Coach - Manual HS practice site.
Shannon has been swimming for many years. She swam through high school. Currently, she is an ISI Swimming Official and working her Meet Referee status.
Her favorite stroke is backstroke and she enjoys watching the kids correct thier mistakes and make improvements. |
 | Jennifer Bateman
Assistant Coach - Manual HS practice site.
Jennifer swam competitively from ages 7 to 18. She was a member of the Peoria Richwoods Girls team that never lost a dual, conference or sectional meet for 4 years. She qualified for the IHSA State swim meet twice and turned down a swim scholarship to a college in Iowa.
Jennifer attended the University of Illinois and coached with the Champaign Aquachiefs and later with the Springfield YMCA. |

Amanda started swimming when she was 6 for the Pekin YWCA. At the age of 7, she joined PAWW and swam there through high school. Amanda was a four-year varsity swimmer for Pekin High School and was conference champ in the 100 fly. She continued her swimming at Division I Missouri State.
Amanda started her coaching career in 1999, then coached the Pekin Area Swim Team in 2000 & 2001. From 2003 to 2007 she coached two groups at PAWW. In the summers of 2002-2007, she also coached the E. Peoria Sonic Waves.

Ashlee started swimming competitively when she was 6. She swam for Wedgewood and Woodruff HS. Her best strokes are breaststroke and freestyle.
Ashlee started coaching with Aaron at River City Aquatics and came to DOCS in 2007. She has been working full time at Illinois Mutual for 8 years, and is currently in school at ICC. Her favorite part of coaching is the children -- teaching them and watching their progress. On a bad day, Ashlee says she can go to swim practice and the children brighten the rest of her day. She runs ½ marathons and the St Jude Run from St Louis to Peoria every August. |

Jill started swimming competitively at 8 years old. She knew from the beginning that this would be a sport that she would do for a long time. Jill swam on many teams and trained with some of the world’s greatest coaches. In high school she made the state meet in two events. She swam three years for the Division 1 School, Ball State University. She coached three different swim teams and taught swim lessons.
Her goals are to perfect an individual’s swim technique, to instill confidence, and to teach skills that will help them be successful throughout their lives. Jill is married with two daughters. Her favorite events are 200 IM and 100 Breaststroke. |

Although Jim always enjoyed swimming, he did not start swimming competitively until his senior year of high school. Jim swam all four years of college at Eureka and was a NAIA National Qualifier multiple times and an Honorable Mention All-American. His favorite stroke is freestyle sprints.
Jim is looking forward to helping the kids refine their strokes and improve their self-confidence. |

Matt started swimming at 14. He swam through high school and then for Illinois State University. He received various varsity letters and other achievements throughout his career. His favorite stroke is backstroke.
The most enjoyable part of coaching for Matt is watching the swimmers improve and mature.

Morgan has been coaching with DOCS since 2009. She is currently attending ICC and plans to become a Surgical Technician. In her spare time she works at Pearce Community Center teaching swim lessons. She attended IVC High School and played multiple sports. She has been a lifeguard at Arrowhead Country Club for 3 seasons. |

Sean learned to swim at the age of 5 and was taught by his cousin who swam for ASU. His favorite stroke is freestyle.
Sean is a 2009 Monmouth College graduate with a degree in Physical Education. He currently works for Pearce Community Center as the Aquatics Coordinator and a Personal Trainer. |

Congratulations Caitlyn!
Caitlyn Scheirer will be swimming for the Lewis University Flyers this fall. She officially became a Flyer on May 17th (see pictures in the Photo Gallery of her official signing). Her current plan is to major in Athletic Management/Coaching, with a minor in Communications or Early Childhood Education.
Caitlyn has been swimming since she was four years old, and she plans to continue swimming all four years in college. She swam for the Washington Water Jets for 6 years and DOCS for 9 years. She was also a varsity swimming letter winner at Washington High School. She qualified for YMCA State, YMCA Nationals, and Junior Olympics.

NICE JOB TAYLOR!
Taylor Streid had a breakout rookie campaign, leading the St. Louis Billiken women with 17 individual first-place performances. She eclipsed the nearly 25-year-old school record in the 200 free in 1:52.79 and swam the leadoff leg of the school-record breaking 800-free relay in 7:43.64 at the A-10s.
In her first A-10 meet, the Peoria native finished seventh in the 200 fly with 2:08.95, 10th in the 100 fly at 57.66 and 13th in the 200 back at 2:06.34.
She owned SLU fastest times of the season in a team-best eight events. |
